The Marshall Chess Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation formed to promote, stimulate and encourage the study, play and appreciation of the game of chess as a means of intellectual development. The Foundation holds lectures and symposia on historical chess events and renowned players (with emphasis on prominent New York chess personalities). The Foundation also highlights through lectures and exhibitions the use of chess in films, television, theater, literature, painting, and other visual media.
The Foundation runs a structured educational program for children that promotes proficiency in the art of chess, enhances intellectual acumen, and develops social skills–such as sportsmanship, self-discipline, respect for others and individual responsibility. By doing this, it is the Foundation's goal to stimulate the love of learning and studying by young people. Programs will be appropriately targeted to all levels and age groups. The Foundation also hosts lectures and instruction by master players geared primarily towards the adult community. To foster the promotion of chess as an intellectual, social and cultural activity, the Foundation also runs age and skill-level appropriate competitions, as well as other tournaments designed to promote chess excellence among members of the chess community.
Where appropriate, the Foundation engages in charitable activities, including advancing scholarships to students, and providing for basic living and health care expenses to members of the chess community in need.
The Foundation would be most grateful for any donations and each one will be personally acknowledged. If you would like to donate, please fill in an amount and click on the link below. All donations are tax-deductible. Thank you in advance for your support. |
